SOS Children’s Villages—Florida

The SOS Children’s Villages provides the security, stability and support of home and family to children who have been abused, severely neglected or abandoned by their birth families. This SOS Children’s Village occupies 12 homes, a community center, a counseling center, and an administrative building. It is located on an eight acre cul-de-sac in Coconut Creek, Florida. Children are offered supportive attention to address their difficult past, tools to prepare them for a positive future, and enrichment activities for a healthy and happy present day.

Eyes on Africa Foundation

The Eyes on Africa Foundation is a non-profit organization working to raise money for the underprivileged in South Africa. One focus of Eyes on Africa is to provide support for the Othandweni Children's Home in the Gauteng Province, an orphanage which has been severely under-funded. The Zulu word, ubuntu ([ùɓúntú]), translated as "humanity to others", is the underlying philosophy of the foundation’s efforts, "I am you and you are me, yet we are not the same. We are not the same, yet, I am you and you are me." Through monetary donations and volunteer efforts, the Eyes on Africa Foundation provides relief to poverty and disease ridden areas throughout South Africa.

Tri County Humane Society

Founded in 2001, the Tri County Humane Society is a no-kill organization saving the lives of animals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Each year, over 170,000 animals are declared “unwanted pets” in the tri-county area. The goal of Tri County Humane Society is to save as many lives as possible. While an animal is in the care of Tri County Humane Society, it is given medical attention, proper nutrition, and loving affection until a suitable home is found. A true no-kill shelter, Tri County Humane Society never releases an animal to another shelter that employs euthanasia nor does it ever euthanize an animal except for humane reasons (to end pain and suffering).
