Nancy Berninger

Cincinnati's Nancy Berninger is a graduate of the College of Mt. St. Joseph, who lives on the western side of town with her husband, Paul. They have three children.

For Nancy, who wants to paint what nature freely gives us, the act of painting grants her a kind of freedom that she continually seeks.

Her paintings convey both spontaneity and organized energy which sometimes is a masculine energy, yet other times a more tender, feminine emotion.

Whether through florals which, in her view are about color and abundance, or portraiture, through which she strives to catch an expression, a sense of what's on the subject's mind or in his or her heart, Nancy wants her work to emote a feeling, an appreciation, or a longing.

As her canvas and paintings get progressively larger, she paints with confidence and with the humble recognition that not every effort will be a success.

Some of her recent works, Colorful Impressions, are truly presentations of her sensitivity toward nature while striving to compliment the organic with the geometric in her post-modern compositions. Their content is constructed of relationships of brush marks and color arranged to parallel nature, not to imitate it.
