Since the days of building cameras out of cardboard boxes at age 10, Connecticut native and resident of Boca Raton, Betsey Chesler has worked as a photographer for the print media, published in photography publications, and participated in various group and solo exhibitions.
Her stirring images, still life and close-up alike, express emotions and beauty, reflect her fearless personality, and relentless bravery to catch the moment in natural light. They eloquently display the careful composition and intense tonal values that are a testimony to her skills and talents.
A true impressionist, Betsey Chesler naturally visualizes the aesthetic, intellectual, and spiritual components of her images through the color viewfinder of her converted infrared camera without any manipulation of subject.
Ms. Chesler's mission is reminiscent of the Art for Life's Sake movement of the 1930s: to merge photojournalism with art to enlighten in an effort to bring special attention to social needs throughout the world.
She wants her art to reveal to, inspire, and challenge viewers to the calling for more positive change to social conditions of women and children in a way that, unlike the everyday news, brings home the message more effectively.
